BEST SELLING ARTISTS IN 2009; YOU WILL BE SURPRISED!

AllHipHop.com did a run down of the top sellers of Hip Hop music in 2009 and you may be surprised who made the successful sales this year.  Here goes:

Eminem, has the best selling Hip-Hop album of 2009.  Known as the Michael Jackson of Hip Hop in terms of sales, Eminem left the competition in the dust moving 1 533 184 CDs of Relapse.  If you still have not got the album and want to it is being re-released with an additional 7 songs on an album called Relapse: Refill.

Black Eyed Pea’s fifth album sold 1,440,895 copies in great part due to their singles and a little Toronto drama with Paris Hilton LOL.  This album continues to sell even today, never dropping out of the Top 50.

Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 sold 1,337,192 copies this year, quieting talk about being too old and out of touch.  Jigga proved his Masonic influence is still strong.  Its the ROC!

Rick Ross proved quality music is most important when his image and credibility was almost shattered by a ruthless attack campaign by 50 Cent (I believe Lil Wayne’s kissing of Baby already proved this).  Anyway, the Bawse sold 401,000 copies of his third album Deeper Than Rap.

Jadakiss proved in ‘09′ that hometown support can be all you need sometimes (and that New York and the East coast still buy records) buy surprising everyone and selling 342 000 of The Last Kiss album.  Diddy isn’t foolish.  Noticing the selling potential, Jada and did have mended their issues and are working again.

I like Fabolous but his last CD was horrible in my opinion but there are 270 000 people who bought the album who may disagree with me (I bought the album but was not happy with my purchase).

Now if you live in Toronto, are from Toronto or even visited and like the city, stand up and be proud because I was surprised to find that our very own Drake made the list.  Now the impressive thing isn’t that he made the list but rather that he made the list by selling 257 000 copies of So Far Gone, yes the mixtape that was released for free on the internet months before!  Yes, Toronto artists get busy.

Last but not least, a personal favourite of mine, 50 Cent proves persistence and a hustlers ambition (and drama) pays off with 227 000 copies of Before I Self Destruct sold to date.

It should be noted last weeks sales were Lil Wayne and Young Money pushed about 1400 000 their first week to hit the Top 10 of the charts. Mary J. Blige sold about 340 000, landing her at the No. 2 slot for her debut.

Eminem Offering Autographed Pictures For Charity

As the year comes to a close for Eminem, the artist of the decade, he is donning a new character to promote his latest release. The re-installment of his already widely successful project, Relapse: Refill is in stores and Em is donning himself as ‘Shady Claus’ in support of the album.

Keeping in character with his ‘Shady Claus’ theme, Em’s giving true fans a chance to get an autographed picture with him for a good cause.

On his website an application allows users to upload pictures of themselves and add it to a shot of Shady Claus which makes it looks like you’re sitting on Em’s lap.

The web version of the picture is free but for those looking to be one step closer to Marshall Mathers, you can order an official copy of the picture signed by the man himself.

Proceeds from the sale of Shady Claus autographed photos will go to Eminem’s charity for disadvantaged youth, The Marshall Mathers Foundation, and stans can expect them in four to six weeks.

To order your Shady Claus picture visit www.Eminem.com.

Shady Claus Is Coming to Town

Shady Claus

You too can have your picture taken on Eminem’s lap. The rapper is offering Christmas greetings on his website for $24.95 a pop. Insert your face into one of four naughty or nice photos with Shady Claus. The print will be sent to the North Pole (aka Detroit) and autographed by Slim Shady himself sometime before President’s Day. All proceeds will go to The Marshall Mathers Foundation, Eminem’s charitable organization for the support and development of disadvantaged youth.

Hotdog's Bun Bouncer

It’s about that time of the week for new music.  So here we go:

Here’s something of the Rebirth, which is supposed to drop April 7th May 19th August 18th December 21st February 1st, 2010: Lil’ Wayne ft. Eminem – Drop The World

This might be my 2010 Anthem: Juicy J & Project Pat Ft. Slim Thug, & New Genesis – Ike Turner Pimpin

This is off the forthcoming Thug Motivation 103: Young Jeezy ft. Lil’ Wayne – Scared Money

After the jump I got more songs from Drake, Jeezy & Luda, and something for the club heads.

Drake ft. Colin Munroe – Runaway Girl

Here’s a little freestyle from Young Jeezy & Ludacris – Go Girl

And finally something for the techno fans (I think most of us will remember this song though): Everything But The Girl – Missing (Greg Downey Remix)

-Hotdogs Anderson

(P.S.  first music post without a mention of Gucci Mane; pretty proud of myself)

(P.P.S. Damn, I just mentioned him)

Where's Waldo? I mean, Where's Wayne?!

I was watching Young Money on the Mo’nique Show tonight, and it’s funny, it’s been a long time since one hiphop group took over the whole industry. For example, remember when Jay-Z & Dame Dash had Rocafella and a million soldiers behind them? How about when Eminem & Dre first got with 50 & G-Unit? Everyone and their mother wanted to be down with Fif, from the mixtape rappers to the mainstream ones to the wankster whiteboys who live in white america. Cam’ron did it too, with Dipset. I think Dipset was the last group to hold down New York while the other regions grew and took over. Shit, til this day the Diplomats are still a powerful movement if only they could stop the beefing and reunite again. Cam’ron has the potential to bring NEW YORK BACK!

Anyways, here’s a track for download with the whole Young Money roster minus the martian.

Lil' Wayne - Drop The World ft. Eminem

This track had my eye for obvious reasons, it features Eminem. And after listening it is so far my favorite track I’ve heard off Rebirth probably (I liked “Hot Revolver”). I’m not really sold on this album being too special at all but his last album sold a couple million. That in itself means I need to pay attention to anythign Weezy is doing. What do you think about that track?

Lil Wayne and Eminem Track for “Rebirth” Leaks

Lil Wayne’s rap career has been synonymous with dealing with early leaks.  With The Rebirth album being pushed back to 2010, the rapper has been prepping music videos to accompany the songs that have already been dropped to the public.

Weezy may have sprung one leak all too soon, however, as “Drop This World” recently hit the net featuring Detroit’s own Eminem.

Since their collaboration on “Forever” Wayne stated it didn’t really count and that he was still looking for the two to have an actual track which has culminated into this.

Weigh in on the track “Drop This World” and state if Wayne was able to compete with the re-energized Shady or if he was a victim like Jay-Z on “Renegage” that got murdered on his own sh*t.

News: Eminem's "Relapse" In Danger Of Losing 2009 Debut Week Top Sales Honors

http://www.sohh.com/img/eminem-2009-03-05-300x300.JPG

Eminem

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Eminem’s Relapse is in danger of losing its spot as the top-selling first-week album of the year to newcomer singer Susan Boyle. Her new album I Dreamed A Dream is en route to move over 500,000 copies in its first week in stores..

According to online reports, Em may have to settle for having the second best record of 2009.

U.S. music retailers say they are realizing Susan Boyle’s dreams, as her album “I Dreamed A Dream” is blowing up way beyond sales expectations. Label and distribution executives, meanwhile, project that based on early sales returns at the big box stores and pre-orders at direct marketers like Amazon and QVC, Boyle’s album is in contention to beat this year’s top debut-week seller, Eminem’s “Relapse.” That title scanned 608,000 units in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That week also represents the best overall sales week for an album this year. (Billboard)

Early calculations also show Boyle out-selling Rihanna’s comeback effort, Rated R.

That’s right, folks, the team of Barnett and Boyle, as in Columbia’s fearless leader Steve, will be #1 next week with a total that right now appears more than 600k and, dare we say it, could go even higher. Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna, whose new album Rated R has been getting stellar reviews in the L.A. and N.Y. Times and Rolling Stone, is on line for 180-200k. A couple of Cash Money/Universal Republic acts in Jay Sean and Birdman are the other new releases, both trending in the 30-35k range. (Hits Daily Double)

The rapper’s Relapse album easily took over the charts last May.

The big story, obviously, is Eminem, whose appeal remains strong enough to get him the year’s biggest debut at somewhere between 600k and 630k, leapfrogging Interscope labelmates U2, whose 484k is now the second biggest bow of ‘09. Both Method Man & Redman’s Blackout 2! and Busta Rhymes‘ Back On My Bullsh*t is set to sell between 60k and 65k. (Rumor Mill Chart Preview)

Last landing in Top 50 in early October, Em’s new album has sold over a million copies to date.

Grammy-winning rapper Eminem’s Relapse is still making noise on the charts as it moves down five slots to even things out at No. 50 with 12,100. Headed into his 21st week, the rapper’s comeback album has moved 1,461,500 records to date. (Sales Wrap)

Bye, Stan.

hiphopReport: The Game Puts his Money on Hov in 50 Cent and Jay-Z Feud, Eminem to Re-Release 'Relapse' as 'Refill' Dosage, Jay-Z Scores Number One Hit with 'Empire State of Mind' with Video

Add to Favorites | Print Article | News RSS Feed News RSS Feed NEWS: On the Clock Report: The Game Puts his Money on Hov in 50 Cent and Jay-Z Feud, Eminem to Re-Release 'Relapse' as 'Refill' Dosage, Jay-Z Scores Number One Hit with 'Empire State of Mind' with VideoAuthor: Zenn

Posted on 24hourhophop.com

The Game Puts his Money on Hov in 50 Cent and Jay-Z FeudNew York, NY – West Coast MC, The Game, has had his share of feuds with both Jay-Z and 50 Cent in the past, but according to him, it was all in good fun. Game has taken shots at both artists during some interesting times, where one responded and one didn’t, either way it never really got to a serious level. However, in this recent publicized feud that Beanie Sigel and 50 Cent has sparked up with Jay that has become somewhat of a media frenzy, The Game added his two cents practically putting all bets on Jay-Z.

During an interview with Complex.com, The Game insisted that Hov would come out the victor in this battle if it came down to lyricism. These were his comments:

“Jay-Z will fuck 50 up in a battle! It would be so fast and over with. 50 is funny, but Jay is witty. Jay-Z is not to be toyed with. If he responds, if he feels like you’re really pissing him off and he responds, he’s gonna fuck you up! He would fuck me up, I’m just glad he didn’t respond, so I didn’t have to go dig in my bag and try to fuck him up.

I definitely think that Jay-Z didn’t come at me like he came at any other rappers because I definitely would have been more disrespectful. Once you start a beef with me, you better be ready to go the whole 12 rounds. I will try to chew your fuckin’ ear off, like Mike Tyson. I’ll do it and I think he knew that — I’m disrespectful! So Jay, he did the right thing and just kinda let it die down and I let it die down ’cause it wasn’t anything, really. It was fun and I really admire Jay’s career. I just really don’t care too much for the man himself.”

At one point in time, Game has even apologized to 50 about everything that occurred over the past and admitted that G-Unit was a time in his life that he really enjoyed and would work with 50 again if the time came around, 50 however, will not. With this recent feud, Game states that 50 is just taking a page out of his book when he began taking shots at Hov:

“I already did that Jay-Z thing, 50’s just doing what I’m doing. Nobody went at Jay; I went at Jay. Now everybody wants to get at Jay — not saying anything about Beanie Sigel, that’s personal and I stay out of that. He’s just a man and he’s got all the right in the world, but I feel like I did something that people have been wanting to do, but everybody is scared because Jay-Z is so lyrically inclined to cut your throat and your career in half that nobody wanted to do it. But me? I just don’t give a fuck sometimes.”

At press time, The Game has been recently working in the studio with Dr. Dre in the completion of his forthcoming album ‘The R.E.D. Album.’ That fourth studio album has been set to be released on February 16, 2010 with distribution by Interscope Records.

I agree with The Game 100%, on the real, anyone that would go toe to toe with Jay-Z has a huge competition in front of them. Lyrically, Jay would destroy 50 and no one should disagree. Either way, it is also good to see that Game is back in the studio again with Dre and with Interscope, I’m actually looking forward to the release of his next album.

Eminem to Re-Release ‘Relapse’ as ‘Refill’ Dosage

Los Angeles, CA – Eminem has always been artist who keeps his promises to his fans. News coming of the Shady/Aftermath camp of another Relapse album, not the sequel, but a re-release he has creatively entitled ‘The Refill.’ According to Em, he wants to include new material that wasn’t present or recorded during the release of the first ‘Relapse.’

The Detroit MC recently spoke with RapRadar.com and stated that ‘The Refill’ will include the tracks ‘Forever’ that he did with Wayne, Drake, and ’ Kanye, ‘Taking My Ball, which was recorded for the ‘DJ Hero: Renegade Edition’ game that he did it Jay-Z, and three newer tracks.

These were his comments:

“I want to deliver more material for the fans this year like I originally planned. Hopefully these tracks on The Refill will tide the fans over until we put out Relapse 2 next year.”

Even though the sequel to his ‘Relapse’ series won’t be out until next year, he did share some information into the album with DJ Tony Touch during an interview on Shade 45. He stated that the second will be very different from the original:

“[The album] is gonna be a lot different than people expect. As far as the contrast from the last album to this one, I got a couple of tracks with [D12's] Mr. Porter, two tracks with him so far. Four, possibly five with Just Blaze. The overall basis of this record, I went back to songs that are more emotionally driven. The last record I made, I think I was concentrating more on spitting. On this album, I feel like there’s some of that, but I went back to songs with [feelings] to them as opposed to just rap records.”

At press time, ‘Relapse: The Refill’ has been set to be released on December 21, all according to Interscope.

Keep posted to 24hourhiphop.com for more updated news on Eminem and ‘Refill.’

I was looking forward for this year for him to release the sequel, but I guess him being Em, he must have something up his sleeves. With production from Just Blaze, I can imagine how he will sound on a Blaze beat, it would be quite original.

Jay-Z Scores Number One Hit with ‘Empire State of Mind’ with Video

New York, NY – Even with all the negative news surrounding Jay-Z of late concerning 50 and former Roc member Beanie Sigel, it seems as though none of that is actually affecting him as he’s not even entertaining it. But honestly, why should he? His New York anthem, ‘Empire State of Mind’ has been receiving rave reviews from critics and all his fans. As of this past Thursday (November 19), the record hit number 1 on the Billboard hot 100 charts. Jay-Z has been on the charts before on features, but this marks the first time his album track has hit number one on the Billboards.

The newest NYC anthem has been circulating all over the place as both Jay and Alicia Keys have been requested to perform the hit record literally everywhere. They first performed it together at the MTV Video Awards of this year, then at the Yankee/Phillies World Series game, and again after the Yankees won at the Bronx parade, to recently performing it at the American Music Awards, where it was a huge hit. The record is literally been performed at almost every major location, putting Hov at an all time high. Guaranteed the list will continue to grow.

Jay-Z recently stated the message that the song was expressing:

“Really, ‘Empire State of Mind’ is about inspiration, it’s about hope. I think that’s what connects with people.”

And honestly, Alicia said it best NYC is the” Concrete Jungle where dreams are made of, there is nothing you can’t do.”

Mariah Carey Is Still Ready To Rumble w/ Eminem....

Mariah Carey likened Eminem to a boy rejected in a recent interview with late night host David Letterman.

“He continuously references me. I don’t know why so I wrote a song that’s really an anthem for all like little girls or kids that get their pony tails pulled and get abused,” Carey said on Late Show With David Letterman last night (November 13). “Because the boy is really in love with them and they can’t be with them.”

The singer was clearly noncommittal when asked if the song, “Obsessed,” was about the rap star.

“The song is not about anybody and yet it could be about anybody. You know? You never know,” she said.

Her husband Nick Cannon was taped backstage with a wide smile after her appearance.

The feud between Eminem and Carey has been ongoing.

Earlier this year, Eminem wrote a song called “The Warning,” which he alleged he had nude pictures of Carey.

Eminem raps, “You probably think if I had something on you I woulda did it by now, on the contrary, Mary Poppins, I’m mixing our studio session down and sending it off to mastering to make it loud, enough dirt on you to murder you, this is what the f–k I do…Mariah, it ever occur to you that I still have pictures?”

Eminem and Mariah Carey were reportedly in a relationship in 2001.

Funny People (2009)

Scenarzysta i reżyser Judd Apatow (‘Wpadka’, ‘40-letni prawiczek’) o Funny People mówił tak:

kliknij by powiększyć.

50 Cent's <em>Before I Self Destruct</em>

50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct has leaked almost 4 weeks early. I heard the whole thing, and I’m not gonna say anything about it. Below I attached three songs. The first features Eminem and is produced by Dr. Dre. The second disses Jay-Z, The Game, and Young Buck. The third, a snippet leaked a little while ago, and I like the final product.

Check them out. Before I Self Destruct is out November 23rd.

Mind The Leak: 50 Cent and Eminem - Psycho

50 Cent ft. Eminem – Psycho

Download This Track

You know what’s really psycho? The entire upcoming 50 Cent album has been leaked on the information super highway! I understand perfectly well how it is hard for mid-level artists to prevent album leaks, especially ones with no pull when it comes to matters such as marketing and distribution. And, I’m also empathetic to musicians who are harangued by extraneous people during recording sessions, god knows what kind of scum leave the lab with pirated leaks. But what I simply fail to comprehend is how 50 Cent, a man with his own label and full creative influence over his music and projects, can allow, yes, allow, his entire album to leak a month before its drop date. Get your shit together Fif, seriously, shot 9 times bla bla bla, cover your album’s ass, shoot haters later.

Psycho feat. Eminem - 50 Cent

Just as 50 makes his way back to the game, Em steals the spotlight from him. Eminem is back with his crazy flow on this track, so hopefully we will be hearing more of this on Relapse 2. Before I Self Destruct drops next month, but it is already leaking on the net. I’m not completely sold that 50 has made a comeback, but this is sounding better than Curtis, but beating that album is not hard.

Eminem teams up with Just Blaze for "Relapse 2"

When Eminem first came into the game, he was praised for his dark lyrics and the dark music that came along with it. Such songs as “Stan” equal Eminem at his best. After achieving commercial success, Eminem soon began creating the celebrity-diss records that he is famous for.

With each passing album, Eminem has gone more and more pop. When he returned with Relapse, earlier this year, hardcore fans of Eminem pleaded for him to display the type of rapping style that had made him famous. Despite their pleas, Eminem’s album featured half of each style. He did promise that his next 2009 album, Relapse 2, would be exactly what the fans wanted.

Just Blaze made a name for himself due to his production work with the artists on Roc-A-Fella Records. By 2005, Just Blaze found himself becoming one of the top producers in hip hop. Some say that Just is on the level of Swizz Beatz and Dr. Dre.

Indeed, he is one of hip hop’s top producers, but he is known for working with artists based in New York. Just Blaze is probably best-known for his work with Fabolous, Joe Budden, Cam’ron, Jay-Z, Juelz Santana, and Saigon. No one would ever venture to say that his style and Eminem’s style go well together.

Eminem announced a return to his old style with this new album. Sometimes, in order to go back, one has to try something new. As a result most of Eminem’s Relapse 2 will be handled by Just Blaze.

Why Eminem Wasn't on MTV's Top 10 Hottest MC's list..

So Shyheim Reid gives a mediocre explanation:

The 2009 Hottest MCs in the Game list is based on an MC’s achievements of the moment, not an entire career. The criteria are based on a combination of mic skills, buzz, commercial success (sales and airplay), business ventures, Web presence, and impact.

Each member of the Brain Trust compiles his or her list based on those criteria. The fan list is factored as an 11th judge. Each ranked artist is then awarded a number (number 10 is worth one point, and so on). Those 11 lists and their respective values are combined to form a final list, which is then discussed and debated at the Roundtable.

Eminem’s ranking was one of the most discussed topics at the Roundtable. His hotly anticipated return to hip-hop after a long absence drove first-week sales of over 600,000 — the highest first-week sales of the year so far. He granted a handful of select interviews here and abroad, and was part of a massive moment with Sacha Baron Cohen at the MTV Movie Awards.

But then Em retreated to the lab, where he spent the summer crafting Relapse 2. From June to September, Em all but took himself out of the public eye, while other MCs generated week-to-week heat with mixtapes, guest appearances, performances and Web activity.

sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. He definitely WASN’T quiet at all. There was the beef with Mariah and Nick which lasted awhile (which he murdered btw) and the Forever track with Drake, Ye & Weezy.  He should have definitely made it on the list.

News: Eminem's Publisher Settles Multi-Million Dollar Apple Lawsuit

Eminem

Written by Cyrus Langhorne

Eminem’s music publisher, Eight Mile Style LLC, has reportedly settled their multi-million dollar lawsuit against Apple Inc. over the company’s unauthorized usage of nearly 100 licensed songs including the rapper’s Oscar-winning “Lose Yourself.”

According to reports, an attorney handling the case said an agreement has been reached.

“The case was settled to the satisfaction of all parties,” Eight Mile attorney Richard Busch said. He said terms of the deal are confidential. The agreement was reached Thursday night after five days of trial in federal court here in the hip-hop star’s hometown. A message seeking comment was left with Glenn Pomerantz, an attorney for Apple and Aftermath. Eminem was not a witness and did not testify. Eight Mile is owned by brothers Mark and Jeff Bass, songwriters and producers who are credited with launching the rapper’s career. (Associated Press)

As of last week, the two parties initially were set to go to trial.

Apple Inc. and Eminem’s music publisher have failed to settle a dispute over 93 songs on iTunes, clearing the way for a trial in the rapper’s hometown of Detroit. U.S. Magistrate Judge Virginia Morgan was overseeing private settlement talks Wednesday. Eight Mile Style LLC lawyer Howard Hertz says no deal was reached in the lawsuit. Eight Mile says it never authorized the 93 songs in a downloadable format on Apple’s popular iTunes service. The publisher alleges copyright infringement. The lack of a settlement means Detroit U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor will start a trial at 9 a.m. Thursday. (Mac World)

The dispute, which involved Aftermath Records, made headlines in late September.

The matter will head to trial this week if the parties involved are not able to reach a last-minute deal. Eminem and Eight Mile Style allege that Apple is providing downloads of the artist’s song through iTunes without proper permission. Apple, along with Aftermath Records, contends that not only is their arrangement legal, but the publisher has received royalties for the sale of songs on the iTunes Music Store. (Apple Insider)

The trial was scheduled to last less than a week.

The trial is expected to last five to seven days before U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor in Detroit, said Howard Hertz, shareholder at Bloomfield Hills-based Hertz Schram P.C. and co-counsel for Eight Mile Style in the case. (Crains Detroit)

Luniz - I Got Five On It/Eminem - I Got Five On It

Luniz – I Got Five On It Eminem – I Got Five On It

Luniz – I Got 5 Five On It Luniz – I Got Five On It I got five on it
Chorus:
People in oakland…oakland
Woo, see Im ridin higher and higher, woo-oo
Kinda broke so ya know all I gots five, I got five
(yukmouth)
Player, give me some brew an I might just chill,
But Im the type that like to light another joint like cypress hill
Im steal doobies
Spit loogies when I puff on it,
I got some bucks on it,
But it aint enuff on it
Go get the s-t. i-d-e-s never the less,
Im mellow fresh,
Rollin joints like a cigarrette
So pass it cross the table like ping pong,
Im gone,
Beatin my chest like king kong,
Its on,
Wrap my lips around a 40,
And when it comes to get another stogie,
Fools all kick in like shinobi
No, me aint my homie to begin with,
Its too many heads to be poppin at my friend hit it
Unless you pull out the phat, crispy
Five dollar bill on the real before its history
Cos fools be havin them vaccum lungs,
An if you let em hit it for free,
You hollar dum-dum-dum-dum
I come to school with the taylor on my earlobe
Avoidin all the thick teasers, skeezers, and weirdos
That be blowin off the land like where tha bomb at?
Give me two bucks,
You take a puff,
And pass my bomb back
Suck up the dank like a slurpy
The serious bomb will make a nigge go delirous like eddie murphy
I got more growin pains than maggie
Cos homies nag me,
To take the dank out of the baggie
Chorus:
Chorus:
I got five on it,
Grab your 40,
Lets get keyed
I got five on it,
Messin wit that indo weed
I got five on it,
Its got me stuck and Im tow back
I got five on it,
Partna lets go half on a sac
(knumskull)
I take sacks to the face,
Whenever I can,
Dont need no cruch
Im so keyed up,
till the joint be burnin my hand
Next time I roll it in a hampa
To burn slo,
So the ashes wont be burnin up my hand, bra
Hoochies can hit,
But they know they got to pitch in,
Then I roll a joint thats longer than your extension
Cos Ill be damned if you get high off me for free
Hell naw, you betta bring your own spliff, cheif
Wassup, dont babysit that
Better pass the joint!
Stop hittin cos you know ya got asthma
Crack a 40 open, homie, and guzzle it,
Cos I know the weed in my system is gettin lonley
I gotta take a whiz test to my p-o
I know I failed cos I done smoked major weed bro,
An everytime we with chris that fool rollin up a fattie,
But the tanqueray straight had me
Chorus
(knumskull)
Hey, make this right man
Stop at the light man,
My yester night thang got me hung off the night train
You fade, I face
So lets head to da east
Hit the stroll to 9-0 so we can roll big hashish
I wish I could fade the eighth, but Im low budget
Still rollin a two door cutlass same ole bucket
Foggy windows,
Smokin indo,
Im in tha land gettin smoked wit my kinfolk
(yukmouth)
Been smoked,

Up in the oak the town
Homies dont play around,

Royce Wants Slaughterhouse On Shady

Royce provides us with some insight into the behind-the-scenes talks about the possibility of his group joining Eminem’s label.

“It’s very much what it looks like,” Royce said of Slaughterhouse joining forces with Eminem. “That’s always a possibility. It’s conversations being had, very good conversations. I just did an interview recently and they asked me to a address the rumors. I said, ‘Rumors are what they are, people see things and they jump to a conclusion.’ I never said it wasn’t going to happen — I left it right there in the middle. I think it would be a great thing if it could happen.”
“I’ve been talking to Em and Paul for a long time,” Royce added. “With this particular situation, things are falling into place. Everything is in place where it’s supposed to be. I’m very prepared [for] when the opportunity presented itself. It’s a time where there’s things they need over here and certain things we need in order to move over there. I think it’s a good marriage. Like I said, I just hope it can happen.”

Let’s see what happens…….Stay tuned

Young Buck denies Eminem diss

Hip Hop Vibe previously reported of a diss record from Young Buck. A few days ago, the former G-Unit rapper released a song, “If I Have To,” that starts off saying, “Eminem we comin’ for your a*s.”

If that was not a diss, what is? He spoke on the song, calling it a warning. Now that things have gotten a little hot, Young Buck has come out to deny that the song was even mentioning Eminem. Instead, Buck said that the song was talking about the producer, which happens to be white.

Not only was Young Buck suddenly not dissing Eminem, he went on to call Eminem a homeboy. He said that he was one of Em’s biggest fans, if not his biggest fan. His feud was between himself and G-Unit, anyway.

From 2002 until 2007, Young Buck had worked closely with Eminem with music on his solo albums, albums with 50 Cent, and albums with G-Unit and the other members. Still, the song does sound like a diss and it looks like Young Buck is covering his tracks.

Young Buck disses Eminem on New Track

Barely a month after Young Buck reached out to G-Unit in hopes of reconciliation, he has now dissed Eminem on a new track, “If I Have To.” G-Unit member, Tony Yayo forgave Buck and left The Game hanging because of his mood swings.

Apparently, Young Buck is having these same mood swings. He seemed like the most loyal member at G-Unit and G-Unit Records only weeks before he was booted from the group.

Ever since the spring of 2008, Young Buck has been feuding with 50 Cent. Unlike his actions with The Game, 50 kicked him out of the group, but kept him on the label. Actually, Buck is the only artist on G-Unit Records that is still signed to Interscope Records.

It is unclear what happened behind the scenes, maybe Buck wanted off of the label and Eminem convinced 50 to leave him on the label. But, Young Buck opens the song with the line “Eminem, we comin’ for a**.” This may all be a plot from Young Buck to be dropped from Interscope Records.

Currently, Eminem is gearing up for Relapse 2 and Young Buck has no set release date with his forever upcoming album.

ear candy - september 26, 2009.

I wrote this yesterday, but it didn’t post for some reason…sorry.

So I decided to rename the “iPod Suggestions” series to “Ear Candy” only because I think its more clever and takes less time to write. I’m thinking of making the new day for this series to Friday instead of Wednesday. I only have one class on Fridays [Speech at 12:30] and I just have more time on Fridays to do this. So anyway, here is this week’s suggestions.

Mae @ 31st Street Park in Virginia Beach, Va.

#1. “If My Heart Was A House” by Owl City off of Ocean Eyes. This song is epically romantic. “If my heart was a compass you’d be North” is one of the lyrics…I swear if someone said that to me, I’d melt. Anyway, this song is really great, actually, Owl City is really great. Period. I do, however, think that Maybe I’m Dreaming was a better album than Ocean Eyes but only because Maybe I’m Dreaming was practically perfect as far as indie/electronic music goes. —> Download!

#2. “Wooden Soldiers” by Person L off of Initial. I first heard Person L when they came to Norfolk with Mae, Tokyo, and Barcelona [the concert was fantastic]. Person L is fronted by Kenny Vasili, formerly of The Starting Line. I had mixed feelings about them when they came on stage because, well to be perfectly honest, they looked really awkward. Their bass player looked angry, Vasili looked like he just did heroin, and the rest of the band looked sort of…normal? To me, bands should look either a. really clean, b. really dirty, c. really high, or d. a combination of all three. When they started playing however, it was pretty good. Vasili was not strung out on heroin [to my knowledge] and he got really in to the music. The song I REALLY wanted to put on here is called “Goodness Gracious” and it is my favorite by them…sadly there is no downloadable recording of it anywhere. Enjoy “Wooden Soldiers” —> Download!

#3. “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” by Relient K off of Mmhmm. I know what you’re thinking – “Isn’t Relient K a Christian band!?!” and the answer is…”Sort of.” The whole thing about Relient K is that their newer stuff can apply to all sorts of relationships, be it with God, a girl, a boy, a mom or dad, an intimate relationship with a teacher [probably not], it is just pretty good music. This song has kind of been my…”battle cry” [too strong of a description...but I'll take it] for the passed year of so. Enjoy “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” —> Download!

#4. “Tear You Apart” by She Wants Revenge off of She Wants Revenge. I was watching The Number 23 [starring Mr. Jim Carrey] and this song came on…I love this song. Everyone should love this song. Enjoy “Tear You Apart” —> Download!

#5. “Forever” by Drake feat. Kanye West, Lil’ Wayne, & Eminem off of Forever – Single. This song is a lot like “Swagga Like Us” except…T.I was replaced with Eminem and Jay-Z was replaced with Drake…I don’t hate it. I basically think that when rappers do collaborations like this [especially rappers I like] its wonderful. Enjoy “Forever” —> Download!

#6. “Beneath The Mire” by Opeth off of Ghost Reveries. Opeth is an epic metal band from Stockholm, Sweden. And by epic I mean epic. Ghost Reveries is by far my favorite album from them. This song really shows how skilled they are as a musical entity. My favorite thing about Opeth is the way they mix the gutteral growling with the actual singing. Enjoy “Beneath The Mire” —> Download!

#7. “Apology” by Alesana off of On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax. Okay, before you say anything, I know I put this song on here like two months ago. First off, it was the acoustic version. Upon listening closely to the non-acoustic version, I love it. Its so good. It just sounds a lot better now that I take a closer look [listen]. Enjoy “Apology” —> Download!

Well, that’s really all I have to give you. If you’re still hungry for more, you’ll have to wait til next week.

Cody.

Slaughterhouse Signing With Eminem's Shady Label???

Wow! That would be a good look for all involved…If you saw the “Forever” video that featured Drake, Kanye West, Lil’ Wayne and Mr. Slim Shady you would have noticed that during the Eminem’s portion of the video the visuals showed the rap supergroup Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz Crooked I & Royce da 5′9″) stand directly behind him throughout his verse (which was ILL…and the hottest on the track).  Well it would appear that the random appearance was a possible hint of future collaborations. Miss Info had the scoop and details about the potential partnership:

So here are the “rumors” that I’m hearing…

That Slaughterhouse appearance in “Forever,” was indeed a non-verbal announcement of the contract negotiations going on behind the scenes. For the past month, both sides have been working towards bringing the group to the Shady label. And that the gathering of Em and the guys at the shoot, is the first of more collaborations to come.

For now, Eminem is working on Relapse II, in Detroit. Joe is working on The Great Escape. Royce is preparing his Oct. release, StreetHop. Crooked I is working on an EP called Mr. Pig Face Weapon Waist (lol!). And Slaughterhouse will be on the road with TechN9ne for all of Oct and Nov. But fans all want to see Em plus Slaughter on a track (especially Em and Royce). Imagine the killer verse volleys!

Hopefully we’ll see some progress on this Shady/Slaughterhouse “rumor” in the next few months. It’s good for hiphop.

Props: Miss Info

Is Eminem Suing Dr. Dre?

The AP is reporting that Eminem’s music publisher Eight Mile Style is suing Apple for selling his music on iTunes without proper permission. Apple is basically telling Em to holla at his boy, claiming that Dr. Dre’s Aftermath gave the company all the permission they needed. Now Aftermath is also being sued by Eight Mile Style for “wrongfully collecting” $4 million from the songs that were placed on iTunes.

If all sides don’t reach a settlement by Wednesday, a trial will begin in Detroit on Thursday.

It's Been A Long Time Coming.

It been awhile. I know. I’m trying to keep this up but August brought crazy overtime and I felt like all I did was eat, sleep and work. I have my kitten, Max. He’s insane. Felt like I needed to share this. If you have any thoughts, PLEASE let me know.

I was in my apartment with my cat, Max. I decided to take him out for a walk. When I walked outside, the street didn’t look like my street it looked almost exactly like my parents’ street, except across the street there was a big red barnlike building. I was walking up and down the street with Max and I saw Eminem (the rapper) with a red Mohawk walking his cat in the yard of the big red barnlike building. We talked for a few minutes and then I went back into my apartment. When I went back inside my apartment it wasn’t actually my apartment and my friend was in the kitchen of the new apartment. My friend was pregnant with a cat. I heard meowing from the sink and there was a tiny kitten in there. Probably only a couple weeks old. The kitten was covered in fleas. So I decided I would walk over to my good friend Eminem’s big red barnlike house to see if he had frontline for the kitten. When I walked inside his house there were a million rooms. Another friend of mine (also pregnant with a cat) came rushing over to me and told me I had to wear my robe and handed me a costume that looked like a card “Queen of Hearts”, a la Alice in Wonderland. I tucked it under my arm and told her I just needed to find Eminem and walked into the first room I found. It was a huge nightclub inside the room, but Eminem wasn’t there. I walked into another room and there were 4 or 5 TV screens with Guitar Hero hooked up and a bunch of people playing. Eminem was in there with his red Mohawk. I freaked out and walked out of the room and somehow lost my “Queen of Hearts” costume. There was a guy dressed in a weird card uniform that asked me where my costume was. I went back in the room with Eminem and asked him for the frontline. He told me to follow him. For whatever reason I didn’t and I couldn’t leave the building because I didn’t have my costume, but I couldn’t go anywhere because I didn’t have my costume. I tried to find Eminem so he could explain the situation for me and these guys in cards kept chasing me around this building. And then I woke u

I swear I was sober.

Listen & Download Forever Feat- Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne & Kanye West

More Than A Game – Music Inspired By The Film

Forever… The first collaboration of the 4 current Hip Hop heavyweights is entitled “Forever” which is a previously unreleased Cash Money track produced by Boi-1da featuring Drake and Lil Wayne and hit the web last May.

Apparently it’s a remake of Drake’s “Forever” track… same beat with different verses from Drake & Wayne and also new ones from Eminem and Kanye. Young Money president Mack Maine said: “The record was mastered this past weekend and honestly it sounds better than ever.”

Listen and download Forever featuring Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Kayne West on iTunes now.

Hole-uh-day!

Today is my first day of this 10-day holiday! I don’t think I’m gonna anywhere outside this J-world. Probably somewhere near here. Tonight my dad would come here, yeay! Tomorrow my dearest cousins from Surabaya would come here, too, yeay! Ah, I really wanna watch G-Force. Anybody wanna watch it with me?

Ah, this morning I watched my TV, and I learned a very interesting fact: the ability for a person to know what his opponent cannot see appears when he is around 3 years old. In this show, several children were asked to play the game of hiding a candy and let the other person to guess in which hand the candy was hidden. Kids under 3 years old can’t play such a game. Most of them just put the candy in whatever hand in front of the opponent’s eyes that the opponent obviously know where the candy was hidden. Some of them even ate their candies. (People, make your own conclusion.)

Recently, I’ve been listening to Boys Like Girls, Panic! at the Disco, and Shayne Ward. One of my recent favorite song is Boys Like Girls’ “Go.” I love the lyric. Check this out:

Go Boys Like Girls

Little change of the heart, little light in the dark,

Little hope that you just might find your way out of here.

Cause you’ve been hiding for days, wasted and wasting away,

But I got a little hope today you’ll face your fears.

Yea I know it’s not easy, I know it’s hard,

Follow the lights to this city.

Get up and go

Take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

Don’t look back just go.

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

You could spend your whole life holding on.

Believe the tunnel can end, believe your body can mend,

Yea I know you could make it through cause I believe in you.

So lets go put up a fight, lets go make everything alright,

Go on and take a shot go give it all you got.

Oh yea I know it’s not easy, I know that it’s hard,

Know that it’s not always pretty.

Get up and go

Take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

Don’t look back just go.

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

You could spend your whole life holding on.

Don’t wanna wake up to the telephone ring,

Are you sitting down I need to tell you something,

Enough is enough you can stop waiting to breath,

And don’t wait up for me.

Get up and go,

Take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on.

Don’t look back just go,

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on.

Get up and go, take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

Don’t look back just go.

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

You could spend your whole life holding on.

Don’t spend your whole life holding on.

Another song that I love recently is Eminem’s Beautiful. I love this part: “But I’ve already told you my whole life story, not just based on my description. ‘Cause where you see it, from where you’re sitting, it’s probably 110% different.” Yes, Miss Understanding is like a goddess who always flies throughout the world searching for new preys every second of her seemingly immortal life. (How dramatic. What an exaggeration.) Been reading Homer’s “The Iliad.” No wonder the word “goddess” is ringing in my mind. At school, I also learn Latin, by the way. Pretty interesting. One of my favorite Latin quote: “Aequam memento rebus in arduis servare mentem.” (Horace)  It means, “Remember when life’s path is steep to keep your mind even.” (Translation taken from this site.)

dear humanity, i love you & happy holiday.

Big Day Out 2010 RUMOURS

Everyone likes to predict the future and guessing the Big Day Out lineup in September 2009 for a January 2010 event seems to be the go, so I thought I’d let you all in on what I have ‘heard’.

Paul McCartney is apparently coming to our Aussie shores in the summer, so rumour has it he’ll be gracing the stages of BDO.  Muse is a big contender after releasing their new album ‘The Resistance’.  Depeche Mode are also heavily rumoured to be coming.

Someone mentioned Metallica and Radiohead (fingers crossed).  Also got it from somewhere else that Eminem will headline???  I’ve heard Lily Allen, Mars Volta, Wolfmother, La Roux, Blur, Blink 182, AC/DC and Kasabian.

I’ve read Modest Mouse, Passion Pit, UB40, Jet, The Drones, Lisa Mitchell, Bluejuice, Karnivool and Philadelphia Grand Jury will also be here.

These bands have come from some of the best sources I can find, anyone heard anything different?

DJ Premier Talks Royce, Eminem + Mos Def + Black Thought BET Cipher

DJ Premier was in the house at the listening session for Royce Da 5′9’s new album. I got Preme talking all the details about the album for you tomorrow at kevinnottingham.com, but wanted to run this one today. Premier spilled the details of who is going to be a part of the upcoming BET Awards* Cipher and it doesn’t disappoint. They got some ill collabs of both new and established artists. Where’s the footage?!

Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift - PR's wet dream...>

Rap superstar Kanye West interrupted country singing teenager Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video during this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards in a dramatic outburst. The musician ran onto the stage raving that Beyonce should have won the prize to a jeering audience.

Beyonce, who won video of the year and two other awards for Single Ladies, later invited Swift back onto the stage to complete her acceptance speech.

He has since apologised leaving the below post on his blog:

I feel like Ben Stiller in “Meet the Parents” when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave…      That was Taylor’s moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her.  I am truly sorry.

Whilst West’s outspoken stage-invasion caused a degree of annoyance and a level of disrespect, the overall outcome of his actions will inevitably work in Swift’s favour. How so? Much like the  MTV Movie Awards stunt between Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Bruno’ and Eminem it created such a buzz and mass hype that the profile of both was some of the most searched online and off.

It is not clear whether the actions of West and reaction of Swift were premeditated in a bid to create controversy and excitement but the inevitable aftermath of this is likely to cause a flutter of exhilaration for Miss Taylor Swift’s publicist above and beyond the actual winning of the award.

With backing from Beyonce, a formal apology from Kanye and a viral video all over the web not to mention the amount of fan videos (below) posted in response to their thoughts on the matter this is already causing mass awareness even for those who didn’t see the actual show are tuning in anyway possible to see the action. Likelihood is, Swift will now be seen in interviews across the media and other PR tactics will be employed to capitalise upon this.

mediahustler will be watching this space.

For other famous and rather funny stage invasions check out the Mirror.co.uk for their top 10 including such highlights as 50 Cent, the late Michael Jackson, Iggy Pop, Robbie Williams and others.

Very Magical Aquatics

Blogging the VMAs!

Never done this before, let’s see how it goes!  It will probably be very boring unless you’re actually watching them.  Which you aren’t because 1) they’ll be over by the time I hit ‘PUBLISH’ and therefore by the time you read this, and also 2) I’m watching them a whole day later than most of my (I assume) USA-based readers.

So.  Here goes!

- Madonna. Good speech in places. What’s with the uber botoxed face?  Shouldn’t be surprised, but I never noticed before.

- I like the Michael Jackson dance medley, especially Janet’s performance.  That must’ve been really hard.

- Is it time for the New Moon preview yet? No? Crap.

- Ohhhh, I get it – Katy Perry and Joe Perry. Nice one.

- Bit of an egocentric entrance there, Russell Brand. I’d expect nothing less!

- Oops! Once again, Mr Brand, the Americans didn’t get your jokes.

- Lady Gaga, what.are.you.wearing. and WHY?!

- Russell, I did wonder how long it would take before you mentioned your twig and berries. You lasted longer than I thought!

- Ah! See what you did there! Taylor Lautner and Shakira presenting together because he plays a werewolf and her (ridiculous) song/video is called She Wolf. Laaaaame! Um, I probably would’ve voted for Pink on this one, but I like them all.

- Best Female video. *cringe* I know what’s coming..  Kanye is about to ruin it for her..  SO out of order.

- Ugh, what an asshole. Quick! It’s awkward! Go to commercial! Or something! Poor girl…

- Jack Black is funny.. who’s that chick next to him?

- My vote for Best Rock Video has to be ‘Decode’ by Paramore. (But if it weren’t for the Twilight fixation, I’d say Fall Out Boy.)  Congrats anyway to Green Day! They’ve earned it, if only just for longevity.

- Now is it time for the New Moon preview? Not yet? Dang!

- Aw, Taylor Swift singing on the underground.. that’s cute!  Except for the whole cheesy people dancing in the train car and running through the station thing.  Not so much.  I didn’t know subway trains had multi-colored strobe lights!?

- To her credit, though, she’s not lip synching, and she’s doing a good job staying in tune while doing all the skipping and running around.

- Whoa, I forgot how short Pete Wentz is!!

- Oh dear, Lady Gaga again.  *braces self*  Why is she singing all weird?  I’m so confused. Girl in a wheelchair, Lady using a cane. And then, no more. It doesn’t make sense.  Aaaaaaand now she’s bleeding.  This is too weird to be cool. Don’t like it at all.

- I’m going to go fold my laundry while Russell talks some more bollocks.

- Best Pop Video. I don’t really think that any of them were that fantastic.  But ‘Womanizer’ was probably my favourite song of the lot.

- Hi Seth Cohen, hi!!! (I’m not even really watching Green Day’s performance now, I’m just Google-imaging Adam Brody.)

- New Moon trailer in 6 minutes!?!?! Don’t mess with me, you better not be lying, Faceless Announcer Woman!

- Squeee!  OH MY GOSH I CAN’T WAIT TIL 20TH NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man!!

- Do I even bother watching the rest of this now? Is there really a point?   I got what I came for!

- Oooh, Best Male Video – gotta be Eminem.  TI though? Really? Lame.

- Hey! Alexa Cheung!! And Gerard Butler! Brits are representing!

- Muuuuuuuse!!! Sweet. (Although Ush did distract me during their performance with this. (It’s hilarious – just ignore the Georgian bits in the beginning and end.))

- Tracy Morgan and Cyndi Lauper!! Love it!  Though I prefer Randy’s version from My Name is Earl

- Best Hip Hop video.  Again, it’s gotta be Eminem.  But, ooooh, I do like the Flo Rida song too.  And I also like Love Lockdown, but I no longer like Kanye.

- Eminem! Woo!!

- Best New Act. Oh geez, Lady Gaga is going to win it, isn’t she? Yes, yes she did.  And she’s covered, no, seriously, covered in red fabric.  Oh. Kay.

- Good one, Serena.

- Pink!!! Blindfolded? With a heart sticker over her boobie?  Hmm… I do like the trapeze-ness. Pretty dang cool performance.

- Video of the Year.  Waiting for a ‘jizz in my pants’ reference… Ah! They didn’t do it. Guess that’s old news.  My vote goes to: um, none of the above really.

- Firstly, Lady Gaga is wearing a birds nest on her face.

- Also, HUGE props to Beyonce for calling Taylor up to have her moment.  That’s pretty huge.

- Jay-Z, featuring Alicia Keys.  Interested to see how this one will go…

- Not really empathising with the tribute to New York.  I’ve never been and wonder if it might be a bit overrated?  I don’t know.  I think this performance is made by Alicia, though.  Jay-Z’s rapping isn’t really up to scratch.

- Aaaand, a brief but nice final MJ tribute.  A bit anticlimactic, but good!

So there you go.  2009 VMA’s.

Was it good for you?
