Royce Wants Slaughterhouse On Shady

Royce provides us with some insight into the behind-the-scenes talks about the possibility of his group joining Eminem’s label.

“It’s very much what it looks like,” Royce said of Slaughterhouse joining forces with Eminem. “That’s always a possibility. It’s conversations being had, very good conversations. I just did an interview recently and they asked me to a address the rumors. I said, ‘Rumors are what they are, people see things and they jump to a conclusion.’ I never said it wasn’t going to happen — I left it right there in the middle. I think it would be a great thing if it could happen.”
“I’ve been talking to Em and Paul for a long time,” Royce added. “With this particular situation, things are falling into place. Everything is in place where it’s supposed to be. I’m very prepared [for] when the opportunity presented itself. It’s a time where there’s things they need over here and certain things we need in order to move over there. I think it’s a good marriage. Like I said, I just hope it can happen.”

Let’s see what happens…….Stay tuned

Young Buck denies Eminem diss

Hip Hop Vibe previously reported of a diss record from Young Buck. A few days ago, the former G-Unit rapper released a song, “If I Have To,” that starts off saying, “Eminem we comin’ for your a*s.”

If that was not a diss, what is? He spoke on the song, calling it a warning. Now that things have gotten a little hot, Young Buck has come out to deny that the song was even mentioning Eminem. Instead, Buck said that the song was talking about the producer, which happens to be white.

Not only was Young Buck suddenly not dissing Eminem, he went on to call Eminem a homeboy. He said that he was one of Em’s biggest fans, if not his biggest fan. His feud was between himself and G-Unit, anyway.

From 2002 until 2007, Young Buck had worked closely with Eminem with music on his solo albums, albums with 50 Cent, and albums with G-Unit and the other members. Still, the song does sound like a diss and it looks like Young Buck is covering his tracks.

Young Buck disses Eminem on New Track

Barely a month after Young Buck reached out to G-Unit in hopes of reconciliation, he has now dissed Eminem on a new track, “If I Have To.” G-Unit member, Tony Yayo forgave Buck and left The Game hanging because of his mood swings.

Apparently, Young Buck is having these same mood swings. He seemed like the most loyal member at G-Unit and G-Unit Records only weeks before he was booted from the group.

Ever since the spring of 2008, Young Buck has been feuding with 50 Cent. Unlike his actions with The Game, 50 kicked him out of the group, but kept him on the label. Actually, Buck is the only artist on G-Unit Records that is still signed to Interscope Records.

It is unclear what happened behind the scenes, maybe Buck wanted off of the label and Eminem convinced 50 to leave him on the label. But, Young Buck opens the song with the line “Eminem, we comin’ for a**.” This may all be a plot from Young Buck to be dropped from Interscope Records.

Currently, Eminem is gearing up for Relapse 2 and Young Buck has no set release date with his forever upcoming album.

ear candy - september 26, 2009.

I wrote this yesterday, but it didn’t post for some reason…sorry.

So I decided to rename the “iPod Suggestions” series to “Ear Candy” only because I think its more clever and takes less time to write. I’m thinking of making the new day for this series to Friday instead of Wednesday. I only have one class on Fridays [Speech at 12:30] and I just have more time on Fridays to do this. So anyway, here is this week’s suggestions.

Mae @ 31st Street Park in Virginia Beach, Va.

#1. “If My Heart Was A House” by Owl City off of Ocean Eyes. This song is epically romantic. “If my heart was a compass you’d be North” is one of the lyrics…I swear if someone said that to me, I’d melt. Anyway, this song is really great, actually, Owl City is really great. Period. I do, however, think that Maybe I’m Dreaming was a better album than Ocean Eyes but only because Maybe I’m Dreaming was practically perfect as far as indie/electronic music goes. —> Download!

#2. “Wooden Soldiers” by Person L off of Initial. I first heard Person L when they came to Norfolk with Mae, Tokyo, and Barcelona [the concert was fantastic]. Person L is fronted by Kenny Vasili, formerly of The Starting Line. I had mixed feelings about them when they came on stage because, well to be perfectly honest, they looked really awkward. Their bass player looked angry, Vasili looked like he just did heroin, and the rest of the band looked sort of…normal? To me, bands should look either a. really clean, b. really dirty, c. really high, or d. a combination of all three. When they started playing however, it was pretty good. Vasili was not strung out on heroin [to my knowledge] and he got really in to the music. The song I REALLY wanted to put on here is called “Goodness Gracious” and it is my favorite by them…sadly there is no downloadable recording of it anywhere. Enjoy “Wooden Soldiers” —> Download!

#3. “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” by Relient K off of Mmhmm. I know what you’re thinking – “Isn’t Relient K a Christian band!?!” and the answer is…”Sort of.” The whole thing about Relient K is that their newer stuff can apply to all sorts of relationships, be it with God, a girl, a boy, a mom or dad, an intimate relationship with a teacher [probably not], it is just pretty good music. This song has kind of been my…”battle cry” [too strong of a description...but I'll take it] for the passed year of so. Enjoy “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” —> Download!

#4. “Tear You Apart” by She Wants Revenge off of She Wants Revenge. I was watching The Number 23 [starring Mr. Jim Carrey] and this song came on…I love this song. Everyone should love this song. Enjoy “Tear You Apart” —> Download!

#5. “Forever” by Drake feat. Kanye West, Lil’ Wayne, & Eminem off of Forever – Single. This song is a lot like “Swagga Like Us” except…T.I was replaced with Eminem and Jay-Z was replaced with Drake…I don’t hate it. I basically think that when rappers do collaborations like this [especially rappers I like] its wonderful. Enjoy “Forever” —> Download!

#6. “Beneath The Mire” by Opeth off of Ghost Reveries. Opeth is an epic metal band from Stockholm, Sweden. And by epic I mean epic. Ghost Reveries is by far my favorite album from them. This song really shows how skilled they are as a musical entity. My favorite thing about Opeth is the way they mix the gutteral growling with the actual singing. Enjoy “Beneath The Mire” —> Download!

#7. “Apology” by Alesana off of On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax. Okay, before you say anything, I know I put this song on here like two months ago. First off, it was the acoustic version. Upon listening closely to the non-acoustic version, I love it. Its so good. It just sounds a lot better now that I take a closer look [listen]. Enjoy “Apology” —> Download!

Well, that’s really all I have to give you. If you’re still hungry for more, you’ll have to wait til next week.

Cody.

Slaughterhouse Signing With Eminem's Shady Label???

Wow! That would be a good look for all involved…If you saw the “Forever” video that featured Drake, Kanye West, Lil’ Wayne and Mr. Slim Shady you would have noticed that during the Eminem’s portion of the video the visuals showed the rap supergroup Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz Crooked I & Royce da 5′9″) stand directly behind him throughout his verse (which was ILL…and the hottest on the track).  Well it would appear that the random appearance was a possible hint of future collaborations. Miss Info had the scoop and details about the potential partnership:

So here are the “rumors” that I’m hearing…

That Slaughterhouse appearance in “Forever,” was indeed a non-verbal announcement of the contract negotiations going on behind the scenes. For the past month, both sides have been working towards bringing the group to the Shady label. And that the gathering of Em and the guys at the shoot, is the first of more collaborations to come.

For now, Eminem is working on Relapse II, in Detroit. Joe is working on The Great Escape. Royce is preparing his Oct. release, StreetHop. Crooked I is working on an EP called Mr. Pig Face Weapon Waist (lol!). And Slaughterhouse will be on the road with TechN9ne for all of Oct and Nov. But fans all want to see Em plus Slaughter on a track (especially Em and Royce). Imagine the killer verse volleys!

Hopefully we’ll see some progress on this Shady/Slaughterhouse “rumor” in the next few months. It’s good for hiphop.

Props: Miss Info

Is Eminem Suing Dr. Dre?

The AP is reporting that Eminem’s music publisher Eight Mile Style is suing Apple for selling his music on iTunes without proper permission. Apple is basically telling Em to holla at his boy, claiming that Dr. Dre’s Aftermath gave the company all the permission they needed. Now Aftermath is also being sued by Eight Mile Style for “wrongfully collecting” $4 million from the songs that were placed on iTunes.

If all sides don’t reach a settlement by Wednesday, a trial will begin in Detroit on Thursday.

It's Been A Long Time Coming.

It been awhile. I know. I’m trying to keep this up but August brought crazy overtime and I felt like all I did was eat, sleep and work. I have my kitten, Max. He’s insane. Felt like I needed to share this. If you have any thoughts, PLEASE let me know.

I was in my apartment with my cat, Max. I decided to take him out for a walk. When I walked outside, the street didn’t look like my street it looked almost exactly like my parents’ street, except across the street there was a big red barnlike building. I was walking up and down the street with Max and I saw Eminem (the rapper) with a red Mohawk walking his cat in the yard of the big red barnlike building. We talked for a few minutes and then I went back into my apartment. When I went back inside my apartment it wasn’t actually my apartment and my friend was in the kitchen of the new apartment. My friend was pregnant with a cat. I heard meowing from the sink and there was a tiny kitten in there. Probably only a couple weeks old. The kitten was covered in fleas. So I decided I would walk over to my good friend Eminem’s big red barnlike house to see if he had frontline for the kitten. When I walked inside his house there were a million rooms. Another friend of mine (also pregnant with a cat) came rushing over to me and told me I had to wear my robe and handed me a costume that looked like a card “Queen of Hearts”, a la Alice in Wonderland. I tucked it under my arm and told her I just needed to find Eminem and walked into the first room I found. It was a huge nightclub inside the room, but Eminem wasn’t there. I walked into another room and there were 4 or 5 TV screens with Guitar Hero hooked up and a bunch of people playing. Eminem was in there with his red Mohawk. I freaked out and walked out of the room and somehow lost my “Queen of Hearts” costume. There was a guy dressed in a weird card uniform that asked me where my costume was. I went back in the room with Eminem and asked him for the frontline. He told me to follow him. For whatever reason I didn’t and I couldn’t leave the building because I didn’t have my costume, but I couldn’t go anywhere because I didn’t have my costume. I tried to find Eminem so he could explain the situation for me and these guys in cards kept chasing me around this building. And then I woke u

I swear I was sober.

Listen & Download Forever Feat- Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne & Kanye West

More Than A Game – Music Inspired By The Film

Forever… The first collaboration of the 4 current Hip Hop heavyweights is entitled “Forever” which is a previously unreleased Cash Money track produced by Boi-1da featuring Drake and Lil Wayne and hit the web last May.

Apparently it’s a remake of Drake’s “Forever” track… same beat with different verses from Drake & Wayne and also new ones from Eminem and Kanye. Young Money president Mack Maine said: “The record was mastered this past weekend and honestly it sounds better than ever.”

Listen and download Forever featuring Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Kayne West on iTunes now.

Hole-uh-day!

Today is my first day of this 10-day holiday! I don’t think I’m gonna anywhere outside this J-world. Probably somewhere near here. Tonight my dad would come here, yeay! Tomorrow my dearest cousins from Surabaya would come here, too, yeay! Ah, I really wanna watch G-Force. Anybody wanna watch it with me?

Ah, this morning I watched my TV, and I learned a very interesting fact: the ability for a person to know what his opponent cannot see appears when he is around 3 years old. In this show, several children were asked to play the game of hiding a candy and let the other person to guess in which hand the candy was hidden. Kids under 3 years old can’t play such a game. Most of them just put the candy in whatever hand in front of the opponent’s eyes that the opponent obviously know where the candy was hidden. Some of them even ate their candies. (People, make your own conclusion.)

Recently, I’ve been listening to Boys Like Girls, Panic! at the Disco, and Shayne Ward. One of my recent favorite song is Boys Like Girls’ “Go.” I love the lyric. Check this out:

Go Boys Like Girls

Little change of the heart, little light in the dark,

Little hope that you just might find your way out of here.

Cause you’ve been hiding for days, wasted and wasting away,

But I got a little hope today you’ll face your fears.

Yea I know it’s not easy, I know it’s hard,

Follow the lights to this city.

Get up and go

Take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

Don’t look back just go.

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

You could spend your whole life holding on.

Believe the tunnel can end, believe your body can mend,

Yea I know you could make it through cause I believe in you.

So lets go put up a fight, lets go make everything alright,

Go on and take a shot go give it all you got.

Oh yea I know it’s not easy, I know that it’s hard,

Know that it’s not always pretty.

Get up and go

Take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

Don’t look back just go.

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

You could spend your whole life holding on.

Don’t wanna wake up to the telephone ring,

Are you sitting down I need to tell you something,

Enough is enough you can stop waiting to breath,

And don’t wait up for me.

Get up and go,

Take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on.

Don’t look back just go,

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on.

Get up and go, take a chance and be strong,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

Don’t look back just go.

Take a breath move along,

Or you could spend your whole life holding on,

You could spend your whole life holding on.

Don’t spend your whole life holding on.

Another song that I love recently is Eminem’s Beautiful. I love this part: “But I’ve already told you my whole life story, not just based on my description. ‘Cause where you see it, from where you’re sitting, it’s probably 110% different.” Yes, Miss Understanding is like a goddess who always flies throughout the world searching for new preys every second of her seemingly immortal life. (How dramatic. What an exaggeration.) Been reading Homer’s “The Iliad.” No wonder the word “goddess” is ringing in my mind. At school, I also learn Latin, by the way. Pretty interesting. One of my favorite Latin quote: “Aequam memento rebus in arduis servare mentem.” (Horace)  It means, “Remember when life’s path is steep to keep your mind even.” (Translation taken from this site.)

dear humanity, i love you & happy holiday.

Big Day Out 2010 RUMOURS

Everyone likes to predict the future and guessing the Big Day Out lineup in September 2009 for a January 2010 event seems to be the go, so I thought I’d let you all in on what I have ‘heard’.

Paul McCartney is apparently coming to our Aussie shores in the summer, so rumour has it he’ll be gracing the stages of BDO.  Muse is a big contender after releasing their new album ‘The Resistance’.  Depeche Mode are also heavily rumoured to be coming.

Someone mentioned Metallica and Radiohead (fingers crossed).  Also got it from somewhere else that Eminem will headline???  I’ve heard Lily Allen, Mars Volta, Wolfmother, La Roux, Blur, Blink 182, AC/DC and Kasabian.

I’ve read Modest Mouse, Passion Pit, UB40, Jet, The Drones, Lisa Mitchell, Bluejuice, Karnivool and Philadelphia Grand Jury will also be here.

These bands have come from some of the best sources I can find, anyone heard anything different?

DJ Premier Talks Royce, Eminem + Mos Def + Black Thought BET Cipher

DJ Premier was in the house at the listening session for Royce Da 5′9’s new album. I got Preme talking all the details about the album for you tomorrow at kevinnottingham.com, but wanted to run this one today. Premier spilled the details of who is going to be a part of the upcoming BET Awards* Cipher and it doesn’t disappoint. They got some ill collabs of both new and established artists. Where’s the footage?!

Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift - PR's wet dream...>

Rap superstar Kanye West interrupted country singing teenager Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video during this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards in a dramatic outburst. The musician ran onto the stage raving that Beyonce should have won the prize to a jeering audience.

Beyonce, who won video of the year and two other awards for Single Ladies, later invited Swift back onto the stage to complete her acceptance speech.

He has since apologised leaving the below post on his blog:

I feel like Ben Stiller in “Meet the Parents” when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave…      That was Taylor’s moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her.  I am truly sorry.

Whilst West’s outspoken stage-invasion caused a degree of annoyance and a level of disrespect, the overall outcome of his actions will inevitably work in Swift’s favour. How so? Much like the  MTV Movie Awards stunt between Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Bruno’ and Eminem it created such a buzz and mass hype that the profile of both was some of the most searched online and off.

It is not clear whether the actions of West and reaction of Swift were premeditated in a bid to create controversy and excitement but the inevitable aftermath of this is likely to cause a flutter of exhilaration for Miss Taylor Swift’s publicist above and beyond the actual winning of the award.

With backing from Beyonce, a formal apology from Kanye and a viral video all over the web not to mention the amount of fan videos (below) posted in response to their thoughts on the matter this is already causing mass awareness even for those who didn’t see the actual show are tuning in anyway possible to see the action. Likelihood is, Swift will now be seen in interviews across the media and other PR tactics will be employed to capitalise upon this.

mediahustler will be watching this space.

For other famous and rather funny stage invasions check out the Mirror.co.uk for their top 10 including such highlights as 50 Cent, the late Michael Jackson, Iggy Pop, Robbie Williams and others.

Very Magical Aquatics

Blogging the VMAs!

Never done this before, let’s see how it goes!  It will probably be very boring unless you’re actually watching them.  Which you aren’t because 1) they’ll be over by the time I hit ‘PUBLISH’ and therefore by the time you read this, and also 2) I’m watching them a whole day later than most of my (I assume) USA-based readers.

So.  Here goes!

- Madonna. Good speech in places. What’s with the uber botoxed face?  Shouldn’t be surprised, but I never noticed before.

- I like the Michael Jackson dance medley, especially Janet’s performance.  That must’ve been really hard.

- Is it time for the New Moon preview yet? No? Crap.

- Ohhhh, I get it – Katy Perry and Joe Perry. Nice one.

- Bit of an egocentric entrance there, Russell Brand. I’d expect nothing less!

- Oops! Once again, Mr Brand, the Americans didn’t get your jokes.

- Lady Gaga, what.are.you.wearing. and WHY?!

- Russell, I did wonder how long it would take before you mentioned your twig and berries. You lasted longer than I thought!

- Ah! See what you did there! Taylor Lautner and Shakira presenting together because he plays a werewolf and her (ridiculous) song/video is called She Wolf. Laaaaame! Um, I probably would’ve voted for Pink on this one, but I like them all.

- Best Female video. *cringe* I know what’s coming..  Kanye is about to ruin it for her..  SO out of order.

- Ugh, what an asshole. Quick! It’s awkward! Go to commercial! Or something! Poor girl…

- Jack Black is funny.. who’s that chick next to him?

- My vote for Best Rock Video has to be ‘Decode’ by Paramore. (But if it weren’t for the Twilight fixation, I’d say Fall Out Boy.)  Congrats anyway to Green Day! They’ve earned it, if only just for longevity.

- Now is it time for the New Moon preview? Not yet? Dang!

- Aw, Taylor Swift singing on the underground.. that’s cute!  Except for the whole cheesy people dancing in the train car and running through the station thing.  Not so much.  I didn’t know subway trains had multi-colored strobe lights!?

- To her credit, though, she’s not lip synching, and she’s doing a good job staying in tune while doing all the skipping and running around.

- Whoa, I forgot how short Pete Wentz is!!

- Oh dear, Lady Gaga again.  *braces self*  Why is she singing all weird?  I’m so confused. Girl in a wheelchair, Lady using a cane. And then, no more. It doesn’t make sense.  Aaaaaaand now she’s bleeding.  This is too weird to be cool. Don’t like it at all.

- I’m going to go fold my laundry while Russell talks some more bollocks.

- Best Pop Video. I don’t really think that any of them were that fantastic.  But ‘Womanizer’ was probably my favourite song of the lot.

- Hi Seth Cohen, hi!!! (I’m not even really watching Green Day’s performance now, I’m just Google-imaging Adam Brody.)

- New Moon trailer in 6 minutes!?!?! Don’t mess with me, you better not be lying, Faceless Announcer Woman!

- Squeee!  OH MY GOSH I CAN’T WAIT TIL 20TH NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man!!

- Do I even bother watching the rest of this now? Is there really a point?   I got what I came for!

- Oooh, Best Male Video – gotta be Eminem.  TI though? Really? Lame.

- Hey! Alexa Cheung!! And Gerard Butler! Brits are representing!

- Muuuuuuuse!!! Sweet. (Although Ush did distract me during their performance with this. (It’s hilarious – just ignore the Georgian bits in the beginning and end.))

- Tracy Morgan and Cyndi Lauper!! Love it!  Though I prefer Randy’s version from My Name is Earl

- Best Hip Hop video.  Again, it’s gotta be Eminem.  But, ooooh, I do like the Flo Rida song too.  And I also like Love Lockdown, but I no longer like Kanye.

- Eminem! Woo!!

- Best New Act. Oh geez, Lady Gaga is going to win it, isn’t she? Yes, yes she did.  And she’s covered, no, seriously, covered in red fabric.  Oh. Kay.

- Good one, Serena.

- Pink!!! Blindfolded? With a heart sticker over her boobie?  Hmm… I do like the trapeze-ness. Pretty dang cool performance.

- Video of the Year.  Waiting for a ‘jizz in my pants’ reference… Ah! They didn’t do it. Guess that’s old news.  My vote goes to: um, none of the above really.

- Firstly, Lady Gaga is wearing a birds nest on her face.

- Also, HUGE props to Beyonce for calling Taylor up to have her moment.  That’s pretty huge.

- Jay-Z, featuring Alicia Keys.  Interested to see how this one will go…

- Not really empathising with the tribute to New York.  I’ve never been and wonder if it might be a bit overrated?  I don’t know.  I think this performance is made by Alicia, though.  Jay-Z’s rapping isn’t really up to scratch.

- Aaaand, a brief but nice final MJ tribute.  A bit anticlimactic, but good!

So there you go.  2009 VMA’s.

Was it good for you?
