Lil’ Wayne’s rock-autotune album, Rebirth, has seen more delays than Nicole Scherzinger’s Her Name is Nicole. Due to a shipping mistake by Amazon, a couple of copies made their way to people who pre-ordered the album, thus it leaked on the internet. The final, official album will apparently have other tracks, but I don’t know, I think Wayne should just move on and see it for the disaster it was. I listened to the album, and it’s not great, but some of the songs are intense and pretty good. You’re probably not gonna like it but this song, “Drop The World” features Eminem and is perfect to listen to if you’re in a bad mood. It’s intense, it’s tough, it’s pretty effing cool. Other tracks to check out: “Get A Life”, “Prom Queen” and “Running”.

10 Most Shocking Grammy Awards Moments

The annual Grammy Awards seems like a boring award show compared to the American Music Awards, but it does contain a lot controversial and shocking moments which make the AMAs look tame. Check out Billboard magazine’s top ten list of the most shocking moments at the Grammys.
10. 50 Cent Interrupts Evanescence’s Win
Long before Kanye West made awards show stage crashing jump the shark, 50 Cent experimented with the form. Nobody really knows why the “In Da Club” rapper — was he that sure he’d won? — strolled up to the podium during Evanesence’s 2004 Best new Artist acceptance speech, least of all lead singer Amy Lee, who just shrugged off the interruption and went on to thank her supporters “in addition to 50 Cent.”
9. Michael Jackson Talks “Stolen Childhood” (1993)
As a former child star turned international icon, the Michael Jackson who stepped up to accept a Grammy Legend award in 1993 was just becoming the eccentric recluse known more for his oddities than his music. He helped speed the recalibration with his “Grammy Legend” acceptance speech that night. Standing next to his sister Janet, Michael spun a haunting story of the Jacksons’ abnormal youth, telling the world that normal childhood pleasures “were exchanged for hard work, struggle and pain.” Yet the very personal revelations felt scripted and calculated, and when he remarked, “It feels good to be thought of as a person, not as a personality,” he may have already known that that’s what he would eventually become.
8. Tupac Reunites Kiss (1996)
“We need to shock the people, so let’s shock the people,” 1996 Grammy presenter Tupac Shakur declared. And shocked they were. Seconds later, the rapper was joined onstage by Kiss, whose reunion was essentially announced at that jaw-dropping moment. Appearing true-to-form as Demon, Starchild, Space Ace and Cat Man, the four original members of the rock band took the stage — fully made-up and costumed for the first time in 15 years — and roaring audience members were genuinely surprised, and at least a little bit amused at the spectacle of Tupac surrounded by tongue-wagging old dudes in spandex and platform boots.
7. Sinead Doesn’t Want What She Has Got (1990)
The ever-controversial Sinead O’Connor, the same singer who tore up a photo of the Pope during a live SNL performance, made a splash at the 1990 Grammys — by refusing to show up. According to O’Connor, her absence from the ceremony and subsequent refusal to accept her Best Alternative Music Performance trophy for “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got” was her way of boycotting the 33rd annual awards. When queried about the decision, she maintained that her reasoning stemmed from the award show’s extreme commercialization. The real question is: Did anyone miss her!?
6. J-Lo’s Barely-There Dress (2000)
Jennifer Lopez caused a national commotion when she and fellow presenter David Duchovny came onstage to give out the first award of the 2000 Grammys. Her green Versace gown, with a “neckline” that plunged past her navel and a hemline threatening indecent exposure, looked more like a music video getup than an awards show dress. J.Lo’s dignity was only salvaged by a bikini-area brooch holding the entire creation together. The audience whooped and catcalled to show their appreciation, while Duchovny stepped aside to let J.Lo have the spotlight.
5. Elton & Eminem Duet (2001)
Did Elton John turn a blind, queer eye at the 2001 Grammys when he appeared on stage with accused homophobe Eminem for a rendition of the rapper’s nominated “Stan”? That’s certainly what many of his homosexual peers thought, as they howled in protest despite Mathers and John’s amazing performance of the song. The friendly hug at the end probably fanned the flames of their anger a bit too.
4. Ol’ Dirty Stage Crasher (1998)
In 1998, Ol’ Dirty Bastard proved once and for all that Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothin’ to… well, you know. After the group lost to Puff Daddy for Hip-Hop Album of the Year, ODB took to the stage and defended his Clan during an acceptance speech for a category the group wasn’t even nominated in. Confused? So was Shawn Colvin. She couldn’t even bask in glow of her win for Song of the Year before ODB began his bizarre ranting. For the record, ODB wanted people everywhere to be sure to know that Wu-Tang is “for the children.”
3. Chris Brown Assaults Rihanna (2009)
Rihanna and Chris Brown’s reign at the top of the charts was a solid one, but all it took for their personal lives to crumble was a text message. The night before the 2009 awards, the couple attended Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party in good spirits and health. But the evening took an ugly turn when reports surfaced that Brown had beeninvolved in the assault of an unnamed woman. When a photo of Rihanna’s battered face leaked online shortly thereafter, the truth became all too clear. Announced via a terse press release from the Recording Academy, the sudden cancellation of the duo’s Grammy appearances just hours before the ceremony ignited the firestorm of coverage of the incident. A disagreement over a text message turned violent, and Rihanna was left bruised and bloodied – as was Brown’s career.
2. Phoney Vanilli (1990)
Milli Vanilli couldn’t blame this one on the rain: the German duo with a string of hits in the late ’80s won the 1990 Grammy for Best New Artist, but the celebration didn’t last long. In November of that year, it was revealed that singers Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan hadn’t sung at all — the two were merely the faces on the cover of the multi-platinum debut album. For the first and only time ever, a Grammy award was revoked. When asked by reporters how they expected anyone to take them seriously, Pilatus just laughed and said, “Ha! Good question.”
1. Dylan Gets Soy Bombed (1998)
Vegetarian terrorist? Spanglish Egomaniac? When a backup dancer decided to take center stage during Bob Dylan’s 1998 performance of his Grammy nominated “Love Sick,” he made Grammy history. Ripping off his shirt to reveal the puzzling phrase “Soy Bomb” scrawled across his bare chest, the gyrating performer got away with almost 40 seconds of spastic dancing on international television before security realized something was amiss — and straight-up wacky. Even Dylan himself barely gave him a scowl. The dancer was lucky that his Grammy explosion didn’t cost him; NARAS declined to press charges.
I wonder what will happen tomorrow. You have any bets? What will Kanye West do?

Thanks to my older brother Thomas who played a lot of these songs when I was growing up. Most of these songs I took from him awhile back. I grew up with a lot of different musical genres playing in my house but the hip-hop influence on me has totally come from him…so thanks Thomas
And I just had to put a memorable quote with each song…whether it be raunchy or funny or catchy or whatever…most of the songs have several memorable ones, so I couldn’t help but point out at least one that I think of from the song.
I’ll put the list on here soon. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy (possibly discovering a fun new song you didn’t have on your ipod before
). I might do my top of other genres too but we’ll see.

Eminem and Shady Records may go Indie?
As long as Eminem has been recording music, he has been on Interscope Records. His deal with the label stems from Dr. Dre’s relationship that has lasted for nearly nineteen years. After Dre left Ruthless Records, he and Suge Knight proposed the idea of Death Row Records to the head of Interscope Records, Jimmy Iovine. A hardcore rock fan, Iovine loved the sound of the music and he gave them a chance.
Dr. Dre would spend the next five years with Death Row until he had enough of the way that his partner, Suge Knight was going around treating people. Right after he finished working on the first 1996 album from Tupac, All Eyez On Me, Dr. Dre would leave Death Row. He would take with him artists that he had been working with during his Death Row days. They made up the roster of Aftermath Entertainment, also distributed by Interscope Records.
The first three years of Aftermath got off to a rocky start and Dr. Dre’s legacy was at stake for a little while. All of this changed when he heard a white rapper from Detroit named Eminem rap for the first time. Dr. Dre listened to his demo and he ended up flying Dre to Los Angeles and the trip resulted in Em signing to Aftermath Entertainment. Before the signing of Eminem, releases from the label failed to cross the platinum mark. However, after Eminem released his debut album, he would sell 9 million copies.
The success of Eminem’s first album led to Jimmy Iovine reaching out to him directly. He granted Em with his own label, Shady Records. Soon, Eminem signed himself to a joint-venture deal with Aftermath. In 2000, he signed D12, a group of his childhood friends to the label and he also signed other Detroit-area rappers to the label. Starting in 2002, Eminem and Shady became the cornerstone of Interscope Records. Later in the year, he would solidify his status as a legend, when he signed 50 Cent.
When Dr. Dre signed Eminem to Aftermath, he put his own rap career on hold. When Eminem signed 50 Cent, he made a similar move. However, unlike his boss, Eminem announced a comeback. After he made the announcement, he acted upon it. The result was Eminem releasing his first album in five years, Relapse. Led by the hit single, “We Made You,” Eminem took over the rap game one more time.
Initially, Eminem had planned to release two new albums in 2009. The first half of the year was supposed to be headlined by Relapse. The second half of the year was supposed to be headlined by Relapse 2. When Eminem recorded the first album, he created enough music for multiple albums. Because of this, he had hoped to package the music that was left off of the initial album to create another album.
However, Interscope Records did not like this idea. They forced Eminem to scrap the album and begin to record another album. To honor the promise that Eminem made to his fans about releasing two albums in 2009, they allowed him to re-release Relapse as Relapse: Refill. This will serve as the official preview of Relapse 2. The fact that Interscope Records forced him to re-record his album enraged Eminem.
For the past few years, Eminem has been growing impatient with the Interscope label. It is possible that he has finally had enough. As long ago as December 2009, there have been rumors of Eminem possibly moving his Shady Records to an independent label. In 2008, he had signed up-and-coming rapper, Charles Hamilton to the label. He was hailed as one of the rappers of the future. But, a feud with Soulja Boy led to him being dropped by Shady/Interscope and Jimmy Iovine allowed his debut album to leak to the internet.
With all of this and some other issues, Eminem may just pack his bags and go the independent route for his future music releases.

Why Eminem is the greatest
Now I know there are many who fall in with the Great ones… Here’s why Em is one of th”em”. First off, great name. Who thinks of that stuff? Emifuckinem that’s who. He spits his shine on every rhyme, everytime. That’s Em. He raps about being who the fuck he is and fuck you if you can’t handle that and guess what…now this is what sets him apart from the crowd..I BELIEVE HIM. It’s not like diggity do, but it is. It really is. He shows a human side despite his Godzilla like rage and I commend him for that. Most rappers are all guns and glory and one or two slow jams for the ladies…So cookie-cutter, I just get tired uh dat..juno.
sigh. I don’t know where Mr. Mathers gets his inspiration, but it’s got to be some place/thing really cool. I mean REAAAALLY awsome, cuz I don’t believe it was ONLY the weed that made him great. I’m sure it helped a lot, but Em is a true artist that I’m sure would be even meaner if he were ever to record off his meds. Or who knows, maybe he’d go country music star on us just to say “Fuck you all, once again”

Eminem-Homophobia; what's his deal?
A friend pointed out that between the various posts I seem to have tackled the subject of homophobia and hip hop. This is not a first for me, freshman year in college I wrote a rap entitled “homophobia is wack” for a obligatory expository writing class. In said rap I proclaimed that MC’s could definitely lose the homophobia and still be cool. “Naw, it’s part of hip hop culture,” my friend counters. But Kanye ( before the no-homo bit) had said he’s not a homophobe and everyone liked him(until the taylor siwft thing) and the jury is still out on Lil’ Wayne, right ? (see previous post)
And then there’s Eminem. Up until now i’ve considered him too ridiculous to even worry about. I didn’t buy his albums, didn’t lose much sleep over it. I don’t care whether he’s serious or not, as much as I don’t really want to listen to him talking shit about fags. Sample lyrics in “Kill You”: “You faggots keep eggin’ me on/til I have you at knifepoint, then you beg me to stop?/SHUT UP! Give me your hands and feet/I said SHUT UP when I’m talkin’ to you/YOU HEAR ME? ANSWER ME!”. I can live without it. But my friend is a fan and the more I was forced to listen in his car the more confusing Eminem became. The dude is way gay. A internet search reveals lots of people believe him to be a closet case. On his album Relapse, Homo-erotic ennuendo abound. I hear his newest release- Refill is even gayer. What’s his deal? Self-hating? On Relapse, he talks about being molested- who knows seriously or not. I know some homophobes who got molested as kids and have turn their worry over that making them gay into prejudice. In the end I care much less about what his personal feelings are and more about what effect all this might have on the fourteen year olds listening to it. On the other hand I listened to Nine Inch Nails talking about I wanna fuck you like an animal and I didnt become a deviant right? oh wait.

Lil Wayne - Drop The World (Ft. Eminem)

So my homie PLAYBWAH has been talking a lot lately about the fact that Wayne’s Rebirth is trash, but the one bright spot is his track featuring Eminem entitled “Drop the World.” So I took it upon myself to see what all the hype was about. Truth be told, if this is the best Rebirth has to offer, I think I’ll pass. I’m not against rock, I’m just against how Lil Wayne does rock. Anyway, here’s the track… decide for yourself.

Top 40 songs, 2000-09: 9. "Stan" by Eminem (2000)
It was 2000, and I burned “The Marshall Mathers LP” from a friend. It was the day after the CD dropped, and everyone in school wanted it. This was high school, and heck, Eminem was the man. And for a growing and emotional little white boy, Eminem was the cure.
First couple songs were good, a little much, but good. Then came “Stan.” The Dido sample was a break from the turgid beats Eminem was known to drop. Yeah, the beats came in, but “Stan” was very different. Combine the way the verses grow more intense and sad, and the way Em plays the role of Stan, then comes back to play himself, with the construction of the lyrics … well, I listened to it repeatedly, obsessively. I knew pretty early on that “Stan” was Eminem’s masterpiece. It was, maybe, the best rap song I’d ever heard.
To boot, “Stan” is the definitive crazy-fan song. Nowhere else to go from there. And after all the dirt clears on Eminem’s career, we’ll always point back to “Stan.” That’s the greatness.

Re-Emergence and Top Songs of 2009
Well hello there. Like every other post I seem to have written I’ll note how long it has been since my last post. But unlike the other times, it really has been a while this time due to neglect through being busy with final year of uni and then just plain forgetfulness and lazyness since, or the fact I’m now in the regular human working world so free time tends to consist of sleeping or eating, but there you go.
So towards the end of the year I started getting reminiscent and nostalgic about the year and decade just passed. To say they have both gone quickly is an understatement as I enter the 3rd decade proper of my life. In particular, I have been reminiscing about the music which has inspired, moved and motivated me in the past decade. A decade in which I moved from being fairly naive in my musical taste to now having a wonderfully eclectic taste. All of this, along with a couple of other reasons, made me want to get back into the blog world to write down and chronicle all of this exciting music. And I will really try to blog regularly from now on; more than likely reviewing new albums, movies and gigs that appear in my life etc. as well as probably venting my spleen every now and then on topical issues which happen to be grinding my gears or floating my boat at that particular time (that enough cliches for ya?). In fact, I was going to start my resurgence with a vent about X-Factor and stealing the Christmas number 1 spot but just before I was going to write, the wonderful Rage Christmas miracle facebook campaign had just gathered all of its momentum so my points would have just been an echo of everything being said at the time.
But anyway, here goes, to kick off my new blogging resurgence is the best songs of last year in my humble opinion. Nothing too complicated for now but will return soon for albums of the year and decade and maybe a review of Sherlock Holmes which I’m going to see in a couple of hours.

10. Dizzee Rascal – Holiday
- Best of his recent No. 1 tunes. Absolute trance freakout halfway through kills me!
9. Jay-Z – Run This Town
- Thanks to a show-stopping verse from Kanye, this was one of the standouts of the Blueprint III.
8. Paolo Nutini – Pencil Full Of Lead
- This just appeared out of nowhere this year and cannot fail to make you happy when listening to it.
7. Oasis – Falling Down (A Monstrous Bubble Mix)
- Hard to fully explain, but expands on the subtle quality of the original to make a 22-minute journey of beauty, confusion and serenity.
6. Just Jack – The Day I Died
- A massive grower, I just love the story and the imagery that it conjures up.
5. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Skeletons
- Such a beautiful and peaceful microcosm of the stunning album, which, from this song, should really be re-branded It’s Bliss, because it really is.
4. Wiley – Take That (ft. Chew Fu)
- This track is an absolute monster! No other way to describe it.
3. Them Crooked Vultures – No-one Loves Me and Neither Do I
- The slow, swaggering build to this song only heightens the immenseness of the climaxing mammoth riff.
2. Eminem – Beautiful
- This really crept up on me at the end of the year. Surprising really to have a track of Relapse on here because the album was underwhelming, but this song, like a good tin of Ronseal, does exactly as is says on the tin!
1. Drake ft. Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem – Forever
- Howe could this not be the top tune. 3 of the best rappers around at the moment trying their hardest to steal the limelight. Eminems verse almost steals the show but they all put in a hard lyric. And don’t get me started as to why we Brits aren’t allowed the proper version over here; I mean why get rid of Kanyes bit completely. But ah well, it’s still massive!
Right, so there you go, that’s whats been on my radar all year. I’ll be back soon with retrospective album blogs. And here is a Spotify playlist of all the songs I could find on there just so you can hear as well as read about what music I’ve been digging.
